2011 GMC Canyon CC SLT w/ Z71. lately, a noticeable clunk/rattle present in drivers floorboard. I immediately inspected but could not find anything obvious. the sound is definitely a clunk, as in something loose is knocking into something fixed. what could it be?

Thanks

UPDATE: it appears to have been the Iron Cross step Nerf Bars / Step Bars / Running boards that were the problem

First thing I'd check is the sway bar link nuts. If they're loose by even a 1/4 turn it can make a pretty loud clunk sound.

I upgraded to moog links but used loctite and double nuts on the stems to keep them tight and they still seem to work loose sometimes.

After that I'd check the steering rack mount bushing.
