Removed my wheel today to take in for a plug/patch from a nail and found that weight on drum face is missing. How important are these to have? Can one get drums balanced? I haven't noticed any vibrations but guess it still could be with me not noticing it. I checked other side and it too is missing the weight.

If it aint wobbling, then run it as is. Ive never heard of having to balance them. I wonder if a tire shop could mount them up on the spin machine and detect an imbalance.

I've never seen weights on the face of a drum before. I'm pretty sure that's just the mark that the wheel made on the face of the drum. I have seem weights on the finned edge of the drum. Did you ever see weights actually there?

I don't see a balance problem here. The weights are so close to the axle center and are bolted to it by 6 lug nuts that are torqued down to 100 foot pounds. Not much of a chance to wobble around.
