Just bought some hooked one up and tried it out. It was at full brightness, then when I hit the brakes the light went dim. Are they broken? Idk want my money back!!! Ideas? Should I try something? Thanks guys.

Re: Eagle eye tail lights

Make sure you read the how to on wiring them properly. I had issues with mine until I read it and fixed the issues.

If you still can't get it right, let me know.
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

In addition to the above statement, try swapping the plug around in the socket? Might be a polarity issue.

And I just installed these about 3 days ago.

Last thing... moved to correct forum.
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

As stated above, sounds like a wiring issue. It took me probably 15 minutes to figure out the correct way to wire them and have them function properly. The how-to helped in my situation
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

Thanks guys. Sorry boyd!

I checked out the how-to.

The other problem is that I don't have the factory harness. I'm using the one that came with the tyc lights. I ordered sockets to wire into the harness.
I tried flipping the plugs but that didn't help.
At the end I gave up and installed the light. Then I tried it and it didn't work at all. I will consider swapping the brake and turn signal cable but honestly at this point I just want plug and play. I will attempt again tomorrow before stupid daylight savings kicks in.
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

harness that came with the tyc lights?
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

If need be check out a wiring harness for the truck and hardwire it to the taillights, but keep in mind the swap mentioned in the how to??
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

Yeah. Tyc lights come with their own wiring. You disconnect the factory one that the bulbs plug into and plugs in under the truck, then plug in the tyc lights down there.

Look at the 3rd picture.

I will post pics tomorrow if i need to
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

Mine did not come with that, mine just came with the lights and plugs. Im not sure why it has a harness if they are plug and play.
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

hmm... that's different.
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

^^ yup, thats the way mine are....I have the OG TYCs.

I still have my OEM harness' in a box someplace
Re: Eagle eye tail lights

Id try it without the aftermarket harness. Maybe that's where the problem is coming from. Try troubleshooting one wire at a time, it will take longer but at least you know that its a solid connection.

Just realized my previous post is of no help. The thread title and actual part being discussed are different. TYC and Eagle Eyes are not the same. Just wanted to clear things up for others

Doh.....Didn't see that until now. Thanks Scott

I also have realized that my previous posts are of no value to this thread. But I would still check each wire to be sure of a solid connection.
Re: TYC Taillight wiring issue?

edited the title as these are different... Hopefully someone can chime in.
Re: TYC Taillight wiring issue?

Nope. I just bought eagle eye tail lights. Having issues with those.
That's why title was eagle eye.
Currently running tyc tails but one is now dead. Hence the new tail lights.
Re: TYC Taillight wiring issue?

For the Eagle Eyes you have to use the GM OEM harness for them to work correctly along with the mentioned fixes in the "How To" thread
Re: TYC Taillight wiring issue?

When I pulled my bumper to get painted I found a crushed wire loom. Between the left frame rail and bumper extension. No electrical problems but I'm sure this could be on more than one. I've owned this truck since new and never wrecked, so this was from assembly.

I guess so. I ordered the correct sockets to wire into the aftermarket wiring and had issues. Maybe if I tried the "how to" it would help but oh well. I'm returning them and buying a whole new set of factory tails with factory wiring off of eBay. Unless someone here has a full set for sale...
