so i read through a couple threads and the how to, seemed like all the brands were fairly similar and nobody had any real complaints. just looking to get more up to date info. How has the carpet held up? stuff like that. i would rather spend a lil $$$ and do it once.

also should i spring for the upgraded insulation pad or take the $60 and buy fat mat?

would there be any reason to buy from rock auto ($190) over say stockinteriors ($150)

Fatmat is garbage. It's roofing ice & water shield, not butyl based sound deadener.

It will get hot, smell like tar, and run.

If you don't want to use dynamat, use Raammat, or damplifier pro.
Say what you want about fatmat, but it never smelled up my interior, after the first day the smell was gone, and it made a very noticeable improvement in road noise. When you closed the doors it made the truck sound and feel solid, not like the empty tin can it sounded like before I installed it.

My stock interiors carpet has been in my truck for just now 3 years and no complaints. You will have to trim it some to fit tho. I just put NVX sound deadner on my floor, back wall and a little bit on the doors and it was a good buy. I paid 130 for 40 sq ft and it was enough to do that. It is the butyl rubber. No smell and pretty easy to install but I would recommend a pair of gloves you don't plan on using any more. Oh and make sure you get a roller it really helps.

I put aftermarket carpet in mine after my oem ripped. I got it from ebay with the added padding on it. I also added 100sq feet of fat mat on everything walls floor doors roof only thing I didn't have out was the dash. My truck is super quiet inside and stays very warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Spend the money up front and do it right you will thank me later.
