I got my truck back from the body shop yesterday, here is a couple of pics, one is a close up of the rocker, the other is of the bed side that had to be repaired, will try to get a better pic of the rocker later this week, but the textured finish looks great, I don't know why GM did'nt do this from the factory.

is that some sort of rubberized coating? why is it textured like that?

It is the same coating GM used to put on some of there cars in the late 80's early 90's, I had the guy at the body shop, put it on to help keep from scuffing my rcker when I get in and out of the truck, I know it is not factory stuff, but I was getting tired of touching up my rockers. Plus, it is also rock chip proof.

i am not real sure, he said it came in a aresol can, and that you just scuffed up the area you wanted to paint, and sprayed this sutff on, the followed by color coat, and then clear. i'm sure any auto body supply store would have it. I know for the total job he just charged $500.00 to do it all, and he had to fix the bed around the taillight area.

you can get that stuff in clear and it works just fine without painting over it
