Grinding noises after lift install

3810 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Kraco5
Put a lift on my 2wd a few weeks ago, everything was good, then i got new brakes put on. Got an alignment a week later still good. Now in the past few days there's a metal grinding/creaking sound when driving and getting in and out of the truck. Any ideas what could have happened recently? It's making me kind of nervous. Sometimes it seems worse than others.

mine did this same thing dude give it time and itll quick mine when i got in and out of my truck it would make a squeaking noise. then after about 2 weeks it went away itll still do it from time to time when the truck goes over a big bump or does a hard flex.
Right right. It's just been going on for the better part of a week now. Just weird because it didn't do it at first, i was just thinking it's settling in or something.
yea more then likely mine did the exact samething and ive heard of some other ppl having the same problem so idk what exactly it is except maybe the springs squeaking from the extra pressure from the lift
Please describe what type of lift was installed on your truck.
Yeah sorry, the level lift. Wonder if it has to do with the tightness of the bolts.

Not to be rude but "the level lift" is not descriptive or helpful.

Is this a 2wd vehicle using metal coil spacers only?
Z71 or Z85? Is it happening when driving straight or when turning? Slow or high speeds? Speed bumps or flat ground?
Yep, really need to know wether it's the readylift for torsion bar or coil spring.
Have you tried getting under it and re-torquing any bolts that were touched?
hes pm'd me and texted me he is using the ready lift kit. from ebay im pretty sure.
Get under the truck and have someone get inside and more around, see if you can pin point where it's coming from. I wouldn't trust " Oh it's just settling " because it just might settle apart and leave you stranded or hurt. Just my .02.

No offense. But if only you know what the product used it, you haven't been able to provide solid info on how to correct the noise.

If OP wants help, he needs to answer questions to the public that has experience so they can throw ideas at him based on his exact products/truck.

There is near zero info provided. I checked the profile and there is no mention of coil spring or torsion bars. Readylift makes torsion bar keys too.

well no shit but when the dude sends you text messages with his truck and asks all the question about my lift and about my truck and he orders the same one? you would think i know a little so thats my OP! so get off my case:wavey:
Well, can you see in the thread how we have no clue that you have been told all the answers? No need to get all defensive about information you have not provided.

Since he shared the information with you, will you help answer the questions that have been asked about his truck? We still have limited truck info to help.

If you could post up the truck info on his behalf, and the fixes you texted to him, it will help others if they stumble onto this thread who also have bad noises coming from their truck.

Otherwise, this thread is unhelpful for anybody since only you know what is happening.
Are you saying that you hear Grinding or squeaking ? there's a different. and like they asked try to pin point the noise, is it in the front or back?
