Just replaced my power steering pump this weekend thanks to your write up! I really appreciate you putting this together. My rebuilt power steering pump came with a cap over the low pressure inlet on the reservoir so I used that instead of the tubing with the vice grips in your write up, I'm assuming that you were just doing that to make a plug but wasn't sure. Other than that did it all as you described. Thanks again.

Yes, I know it's been 6+ years since this how-to had any activity, but I want to give props to the writer and the commenters who added lots of valuable info.

My '04 Canyon I5 2WD starting making that infamous FoMoCo pump sound on turns not far from home last week; sure enough, got home, took a long underneath, all wet with PS fluid...although pump area was dry. Ordered hoses through RockAuto, today here in NJ it got up near 50 degrees-good enough for me! Followed the procedure to the letter, all is right with the world again.

I gotta say, the I5 is one tough motor; I have 165k on the clock, and she sounds just as good today as it did new back in October 2004-it's my Energizer bunny...just keeps going and going and going...

Thanks again to all!
