I'm from the Frederick Co area of Maryland. For those who don't know Frederick is one of the more rural counties in Maryland. It's about 40 miles north of DC and 40 miles west of Baltimore. I picked up my 07 Colorado 3.7 Crew Cab used about 2 years ago after totaling my old 99 S-10 (plowed the front end into the front axle of a stupid Avalon that shouldn't have entered the intersection to begin with). I've been a fan of the Chevy S-10 for years, the idea of vehicle that's up for anything on or off the road always appealed to me. My first car was a 85 S-10 2.4 with the extended bed that had been in my family since I was born. This little truck is what got me hooked. Just as I entered college in 2003 I upgraded to my 99 (also with an extended bed). I loved the extra power from the V6, working radio, AC, and no wasp nest under the accelerator. I held on to that truck for about 8 more years until the accident.

When Chevy originally introduced the Colorado I was initially put off by it. After all, they made it bigger and took away one of the cylinders, how could it be better than my little S-10? Then I test drove my current truck. It felt and handled just like my old 99 and the extra 50 or so HP was a nice little bonus.

And so, I named it Mumford. Why? Because the first song I tuned the radio to was Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons. That and it just looked and felt like a Mumford.

So now that I've had it for a while and put it through its paces and fixed the elusive P0449 error, the time has come to start making it my own. Here's what I WANT to do to it and what I WOULD LIKE to do to it. Any tips, tricks or tutorials would be most appreciated.

What I want to do:

1.) Fog Lights with an OEM switch. Why OEM? Because I prefer the cleanliness of the OEM switch VS trying to find a place to mount a DIY switch. Biggest difficulty will be wiring this into the BCM. I need to know the best way to get to it and what cables/connectors I need. Pretty sure I already have the necessary fuses a double check would be nice.

2.) A roof rack. A little annoyed that GM didn't design with one in mind but I have a universal one I just need to drill the holes. The problem is between the size of the roof rack and the slight tear drop shape of the cab I'd have to mount the rack just inside the joint where the roof meets the side of the cab. Is this area strong enough to support a load or do I need to look for other options?

3.) Add a rear-view mirror with map lights. Had this on my old 99, loved it. Just like the fog lights I need to know how to wire it in. Also where to find one cheap.

4.) Fix the damn interior lights. I now know when ever I buy a used car to check if all the interior lights are working....even if it's the middle of the day. I've got lights out on the radio and on the driver's side control panel. I might just outright replace the radio if I can find one with a similar form-factor as the stock one, but being able to see the driver's side controls at night would be nice.

5.) Fix "The Chevy Lean." Both my old S-10's did this and I can see my Colorado starting to do it.

What I would like to do:

1.) Cat Back Exhaust. Why? Because sexy noise that's why!

2.) A Locking or Limited Slip Differential. My 2WD Colorado didn't come with a G80 and an open diff sucks on ice. I've been looking into differentials, but I'm not sure I have the technical prowess (or the tools) for an air or E-locker. Additionally because I live an area with curvy roads and mostly use my truck on the road I'm not sure how an auto locker or a limited slip would impact handling/tire wear especially with the truck's already surprisingly wide turning radius.

3.) Appearance. Like I said this is my third Chevy Light Pick-up. It's also my third ALL WHITE Chevy Light Pick-up. Didn't plan it, that's just the way things worked out. Needless to say I'm a little board of it. Any tasteful suggestions would be nice.

Anyway, Hello all!...also Mumford says hi too. :th_woot:

Welcome to the nation Birdman.

I love the S-10 too, Worked hard to buy a brand new one, but I ran out of time and GM discontinued it. By the time I was ready to buy my first truck I went for the ranger (No WT versions of Colorado in Mexico so no enough $ for the chevy yet.), the ranger Its a solid truck too, but the memory of those lovely S10´s eventually took me in the right direction. Now I own 2 Colorados and I love them.

Nice choice of music!

I was pretty disappointed when my new truck came without mirror map lights. Yea, yea, there are 'personal' lights on the dome, but I feel it was a lot easier to read/see with the map lights on the mirror. I'd like to retrofit my existing mirror with map lights in the future.

I have a standard mirror with maplights that I don't need
