Just picked up this 2008 Canyon a couple weeks ago, it’s a 3.7L with 182,000km. I paid $4000 CDN for it. This is my new daily driver so everything will have to be done on my days off which range from 2-6 days depending on my shift schedule. My plans for this truck is to daily it for the next year or so then be a dedicated camping/hunting vehicle. With the age and shape of this truck is in, I’m plan on doing this as a “budget” build. I’ll purchase parts as cheap as possible new or used. I’ll fabricate as much as I possibly can as well.

Plans for it:
Interior, I want it to be comfortable and quieter
Small lift probably 3-4”
Wheels and tires. Thinking of a 17” wheel and 32-33” tire range
Homemade Tube bumpers and sliders
Canopy with setup for camping either buy a used one or build one from scratch
Build a hitch mount to haul my 110 pitbike
resonator delete with custom aluminum intake
Gut the cats and do something with the exhaust

Besides doing fluid changes on it, I have a couple codes to deal with. I have a passenger side abs sensor that needs to be replaced so I ordered both sides, and since I’m doing the hubs I ordered new rotors and pad. Also changed out the Vapour canister purge valve ACDelco pn:214-1680.
Had to repair the wiring in the back doors to the seat belt tensioners.

Now for the somewhat fun parts. I started on the interior. truck is very basic manual windows and seat 60/40 bench 🤮. First stop was the local pick n pull where I scored bucket seats and centre console and may have grabbed most of the black interior panels.

If you haven't yet, crawl under there and check out the frame for rust. Especially right behind the cab.

I've wanted to swap my interior to all black for a while.

Looking good. Keep it up!
thanks I’ll have to check that out, from what I’ve looked at So far is just surface rust

Scored a free rear bumper and Colorado grill from a buddy that used to be on here as well. They’ve been sitting in a shed for 16years. Plan is to sand them down then spray with Raptor liner. Thinking about using the Colorado grill as my winter grill and I’ll 3D print a new partially covered grill insert as it gets to -40 celsius here.
