hey guys, gals,

i am usually a creeper, and can find any info on the site just by searching, but i've searched this topic to no avail.

I have a 2006 colorado, 4door z71 4x4 . The u-joint on my steering shaft is binding, snapping, creeking - it is soon going to be toast .

the 2007+ have a service bulletin, and a newly redesigned shaft replacement, however there are no mentions of 2004-2006 years.
Is this part compatible? is there a difference between 2wd / 4wd ? replacing this shaft should solve my issue , yes?

any input is greatly appreciated, and a part number would be an even bigger bonus

The Service Bulletin is #07-02-35-006D, dated Sept 5, 2008. The SB does not mention suspension configuration (2wd or 4wd). The Part number of the upgraded shaft is 25900704. This link seems to indicate that it would fit your 2006. The designation "ST" in the description indicates that the part is applicable to both 2wd (S) and 4wd (T).
