SSBC Disc Brakes, Belltech Stainless Steel Double Adjustable Coilovers & Helwig front & Rear Sway Bars - Day 1

So these are some pics from day one, we got held up when three of the 4 swaybar bolts snapped off but we were able to get them out. So far the LF is done the front swaybar is off and the RF is taken apart but I am waiting on the rubber bushing that the spring perch sits in for the RF because when the factory strut was put together they smashed the rubber weird and it's FUBAR.

SSBC Disc Brakes, Belltech Stainless Steel Double Adjustable Coilovers & Helwig front & Rear Sway Bars - Day 2

Day 2, I got the replacement rubber seat for the RF shock today and was able to get that installed and got the knuckle bolted back in.

However when we bolted the rotor up to the hub and bolted the hub back on the knuckle the rotor was wobbleing a total 0.030" So my uncle who is helping me with all of this is going to take the rotor into his work tomorrow to turn it down to straighten it out since the brake lathe that he has at his house will not fit a 14" rotor.

So since We could not finish up the RF we put the front Sway bar on using the provided sway bar mounts and also Energy Suspension universal adjustable sway bar end links.

Then we moved on to the rear. Taking the Axles out and the drums off was relatively painless.

We put new axle seals in then put the axles back in and bolted the brackets up.

Then after that we put the rotors on and bolted the calipers up.

After that we messed around with the parking brake cables for a little bit as far as getting them re-secured to the leaf and we hooked up the left side then we called it for the night & we'll pick it up tomorrow hopefully we can finish up the front end and get the parking brake cables done then I'm waiting on the brake line mounts & clips then we can tackle the rear shocks and swaybar.

Re: Mordis Build Thread

So another update on the RF rotor wobble, think we narrowed it down to the Hat we think the mounting surface that the rotor attaches to was not machined straight and it is causing the wobble. We took the rotor off of the LF and bolted it up to the RF hub it and ran true on the truck we then took the hat off of the LF rotor and bolted it up to the RF rotor and bolted it up to the RF hub and it ran true there so at this point I get to call SSBC tomorrow and see what they have to say..

Here is a crappy vid but you can see the wobble of the hat on the lathe.

SSBC Disc Brakes, Belltech Stainless Steel Double Adjustable Coilovers & Helwig front & Rear Sway Bars - Day 3

Ok small update for day 3, we got the parking brake cables set in their brackets since you end up with about 3 extra inches of cable due to their new position for the calipers. We loosened all of the brackets that hold the cables in place and took up some of the slack along the way so they weren't all bound up. We will actually adjust the cables once the truck is sitting on the ground again.

after that was done we started working on the brake lines. We started with the LR and here you can see what was cut off of the stock line.

Then here are a couple pics of the lines once they were all in place.

SSBC Disc Brakes, Belltech Stainless Steel Double Adjustable Coilovers & Helwig front & Rear Sway Bars - Day 4

So day 4, we finished up installing the brake lines and gravity bled the RR.

Then we took the stock swaybar & shocks off and installed the Helwig swaybar with the Energy Suspension end links as well as the rear Belltech/KW Shocks.

The only trouble we ran into tonight is the Helwig rear bar is meant to be installed on a truck that does not have a rear bar so they want you to use their mounting equipment but since I wanted to use the Energy Suspension links and reuse the stock mounts we had to make the mounting hole in the swaybar smaller. The way that we did this is by taking a 3/8" Valve Guide and pressing it into the swaybar and it worked out perfect.

And the only other thing was we had to reuse the rubber sway bar mounts cause the Poly mounts that came with the bar were too small to fit in the stock mounts.

So at this point we are waiting for the Hat from SSBC so we can finish the RF. and once that is done then we can properly bleed the system and put it back on the ground and get the parking brake cables adjusted and then on to road testing.
