Re: Mordis Build Thread

I knew the rear swaybar would bolt up to a zq8 without too much trouble! Now I want to switch. Lol

Really digging those end links!!!
Yeah like I said it wasn't too bad getting it to work just gotta reuse the rubber bushings for the mounts and of course the Valve guide in the end link hole.

This is coming along nicely. I'm anxious to hear how you like the sway bars. I know your gonna love the SSBC brakes.
Thanks Rich. I am hoping I do get some better cornering out of it. The front bar is 5/16" bigger and the rear is 1/8" bigger plus I believe the Helwig bars are chromoly which should give a little more spring rate than the standard Carbon Steel bars.

What is the pt# on those adj front end sway bar links ?
Here you go @TurboAl

Energy Suspension 9.8169 - Pivot Style Universal Endlinks. Energy Suspension ENE-9.8169G

I used the same ones on the front & the rear.

Re: Mordis Build Thread

Well that project is done, I didn't take any pics of last couple days it was mostly just working on some little stuff. I got the replacement hat from SSBC and put that one on the lathe and that one didn't have any wobble to it so we got the RF finished up and once that was done we did some small work on the brake cables so they were sitting where they should be. Also as others have said getting the brake cable arm on the rear calipers in the right position was kind of annoying but after working with it a little bit we were able to get them in the right position and the parking brake works with no issues.

Other than that it rides like a completely different truck I currently have the rebound & compression on the shocks set 8 clicks each I may mess around with it in the future to get better ride/handling.

Speaking of handling IMO the Helwig bars make a noticeable difference in cornering there is barely any roll of the body now and my fat ass ends up sliding across the leather seats cause I take corners too fast now :D

I want new coilovers and sway bars...

...and brakes
Re: Mordis Build Thread

Heh Coilovers and Sway Bars can be done with no problem, Brakes... meh the SSBC kit's work well enough but they are a hassle in other ways. I was determined to get them and get them on so for me I think it was worth it but others probably wouldn't feel the same. I think the only options at this point for Colorado's/Canyon's would be 1BADI5's Front Kit and the TSM Rear kit.

Looking ahead to my next "mod" will probably be tires cause mine still has the factory RS-A's they only have ~41000 miles on them but they have some pretty bad dry rot and spin way too easy.
Re: Mordis Build Thread

Sticky rubber and sway bars is a corner carving dream compared to stock. Lol

True that, I feel like i'm missing out on some of the full potential of the mods I just did cause of shit tires lol.

I can't say enough about the continental extreme contact dw's.

Re: Mordis Build Thread

Tires showed up today, Probably won't be able to get them installed until the 25th so for now they are in the bed.
Got a pretty good deal I think for them they are $143.20 a tire on Tire Rack I got them for $127 a tire from the dealer my Dad works at. I had to pay cash but no big deal.

Some Pics:

First the status of the current Goodyear RSA's and the main reason for getting new ones.

And the new BFGoodrich G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S tires.

Re: Mordis Build Thread

Added some pics of the tires installed. Only put about 15 miles on them so far but so far so good. It's not as easy to spin the tires now and it does seem to be more stable in cornering.

Thank You Sir. I know I'm not breaking the mold with any of this stuff I got most of my ideas from this site but I'm happy with how it's coming along.

The headers are here along with the mufflers, tips and the pre bent mandrel tubes so hopefully I'll be starting on the exhaust next weekend.

Re: Mordis Build Thread

Well Time for more mods :D

Started on the exhaust today and got a bunch of pics so here we go..

Started by taking the right side cats out.

Which ended up being a pain in the ass cause as you can see one of the Manifold nuts striped out but finally got the damn thing out. Also the flange bolts busted off when we hit them with the impact but it does not matter since I won't be reusing them.

Next was the left side cats, the nuts on that manifold came off with no issues.

After that we chopped the Y-Pipe off of the muffler to make it easier to remove.

Then from there the muffler and tailpipe.

Then we took the plugs out so we didn't break them taking the manifolds off.

Then after busting the bolts loose on the manifolds we got them out.

Then it was on to installing the Headers, we did the left side first.

I didn't care for the bolts that Thorley provided in the kit so here are the bolts I used along the the Remflex Gaskets.

Then we put the right side in.

I also got some plug wire boots which you can see here.

And one more random pic.

After that we installed the secondary pipes from the headers but I forgot to grab some pics of them installed, I'll get some pics of those tomorrow before we get started on the full dual exhaust.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

I really wanna hear those tri-ys in person, I bet they sound great.

Are those gaskets still mls?

Yeah I can't wait to finish the exhaust to see what it sounds like, and the Remflex Gaskets have no steel in them they are 100% Graphite and good up to 3000F they are about 1/4" thick but once you put them on they crush to about 1/8" the idea being that if there is any imperfections in the head or the flange the gasket will make up the difference, My uncle has had no problems with the ones that he has installed so I figured i'd give them a try. I do have a set of Fel-Pro gaskets if they become a problem.
Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

i like the remflex gaskets. i used them on my last vehicle.

They seem good and all of the reviews that I have seen have been positive, I don't anticipate any issues but like I said I have the Fel-Pro gaskets if need be since they were only like $10.
Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!
