Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

So got some more pics and progress, most of this stuff was done over the past three nights after I got home from work.

First we have the right side connector pipe.

Left Side connector pipe.

Front of the left side Y-Pipe.

Drive shaft clearance.

Right side part of the Y-Pipe.

End of the Y-Pipe & the X-Pipe.

Next will be a couple short pipes into the Borla ProXS Mufflers.

And the last pic is of the "Vibrant Performance - Oxygen Sensor Simulator Fitting with Adjustable Jets". They will hopefully prevent the cat monitor codes and if they don't whenever I have it tuned I will have those codes shut off.

So that's all for now, next is to obviously get the mufflers in and then start work on the tail pipes.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

seeing the spark plug wire boots on your truck, i ended up buying a set for my truck. how do you like them or have you used them yet? going to install them when i put on a set of TR55 NGKs shortly

Well I have them installed but I haven't started the truck yet with them on, still working on the rest of the exhaust. As far as the install goes there wasn't much issue with them they were big enough to get the plug wires in and they cover almost the whole wire and putting the wires back on with the boot on wasn't much more trouble than normal. I'll see if I can grab some better pics of them installed tonight but there isn't much room in there so we'll see.
Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

im going to put some msd wires underneath. we run them on the drag car ls1 catfish at the shop
Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

Top notch work! I like the choices you've made.

Nice, I was looking at some MSD wires as well. Whenever I get around to it I was thinking some MSD wires and some Denso Iridium TT Plugs.

Top notch work! I like the choices you've made.
Thank you sir. The site has helped a lot with many of the choices on parts. I found a post you made about the cat monitor spacers and I wanna say it was you and @fast0ne who convinced me to go with Borla over Flowmaster.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

Didn't get a whole lot done on the exhaust tonight but did a few things.

First thing we did was take the rear leaf springs out.

And the reason for taking the springs out is for..

We had to get the springs out tonight so my uncle can take them to work tomorrow to press the front bushings out to press in the aluminum inserts for the CalTracs

After that was done we put in the O2 Sensors & Cat Monitors with the extenders.

Leftside cat monitor.

Leftside O2.

The only complication that we had was that were the right side cat monitor bung is welded in the connector pipe kinda points it up at the underbody so as you can see in the pic the wires are real close with the spacer on there at the moment there is less than a finger width with beating up the underbody a little bit once it is all done we are gonna test and see how much the engine twists under load and adjust it from there.

And that was it for tonight, Hopefully we can get the springs back in tomorrow and continue on the exhaust.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

Time for another update.

First up we got the mufflers in and we had to make a small "S" pipe to move one of the mufflers over so there was enough room for them to stand next to each other since the X-Pipe exits are so close.

Pic of the mufflers.

Random pic of the exit muffler clamps.

Tailpipes.

Tailpipes sans tips.

And last but not least I got tired of waiting to hear it so we started it up and as typical with these videos it sounds way different in person but still sounds pretty good in the video.

So all we have left is to put hangers on all of the pipes and weld the tips on and finish up the Caltracs.

Glad to be of help :D It was funny at the end of the video you could hear the tail pipes rattling together cause of no hangers yet.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

love it!
Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

Thanks fellas, one thing I forgot to mention in the last post is we moved the rear sway bar link on the right side, if you look at this pic:

You can see it is bolted on the outside of the bar the stock location is on the inside of the bar. We drilled a hole through the frame for the link stud to go into then we drilled a bigger hole on the outside of the frame to put the nut on the stud. By doing this it moved the polyurethane away from the exhaust and gave us more clearance to move the pipes further away from the spare tire. I will get some better pics of the link attached to the frame and the holes we drilled next time I head over to work on it.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

Ok then, the exhaust is done after some driving it has a some rumble to it now :D Next test will be when I drive it up north this weekend to see how I like it. Driving around town and short trips is amazing and it's funny to see people looking at the truck now that it has a exhaust note lol.

First up we have some better pics of the holes we drilled in the frame to change the mount of the sway bar link.

X-Pipe hanger.

Tail pipe hangers.

Tips.

And last is the Caltrac's.

Not adjusted yet.

Adjusted.

So that's it for now. I might make another video or two after I get some miles on the exhaust.

Re: Mordis Build Thread - New Exhaust.. Headers Installed!

A little update, the cat. monitor spacers with the smallest inserts didn't work it threw codes on both banks so my uncle is going to bring home his scan tool that will tell us exactly what voltage the sensor is reading then we will probably try the medium size insert and see what happens.
