My Project

Well I started out with a stock 08 Colorado 2.9 manual. The things I have done to it so far are the supersparkz, ptb, super 44 muffler, Dual "ram" air intake ( 2 hoses that feed air from under the headlights through a crack plus stock air fender outlet), AEM dry filter, resonator delete, and truck bed cover. I will post more pictures later when I can take some. I want to do much more over the next few years when I have more money so it will be a long project! Here is a picture of my friend welding in the muffler for me:

Don't apologize! If it is corrected like that then that's what it is! Either way it did better than I expected. Some people at the shop were suprised at the torque.
I want to find a little more power because I won't do any turbo stuff til I have a garage
Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

There's a bit of power to be found in the head. Smoothing the casting flaws and cleaning up the valve seat-to-port interface should give you a nice boost in power. By the way the ports look, I would guess an additional 20cfm would be easy to find.

Another area to look into would be the cams. A mild regrind would fatten the torque curve a bit. You might not even want much more duration, just more aggressive lift would go a long way.

Those two mods are still on my to-do list. If I ever pull the head, it's getting ported!
When I stop caring about gas mileage I may look into that. Those would be expensive to do as well I'm sure. I'm sure combining those could give an extra 50 hp with a tune. If for some reason I can't do a turbo, I'll want to do those for sure and maybe add a 75 shot of nitrous. That would be fun and suprise a lot of people.
Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

If you decide to stay na i would just do a 3.7 swap with all the mods mentioned
Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

I've thought about that, but if I'm doing an engine swap it would most likely be a v8.

The difference is the v8 swap doesnt just bolt on and run lol and cost alot more

Don't remember if nitrous is legal in the 505 or not
Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

In georgia i think it is you just cant have the bottle hooked up on the street lol
Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

I think it is legal for the track. My dad had some on his 74 Camaro, but that was maybe 10-15 years ago.

I know a v8 would cost more and be a lot more work but the potential is more as well. The problem I would have is getting the I5 to be compatible with my manual transmission. If I were to do a v8, I would probably go with a t56 or something similar. I would not do an auto swap because I like a manual. An I5 would be a lot of fun though. You can get some good power out of those, especially if you turbo or supercharge them.

I am really looking forward to your turbo setup buddy! I hope everything goes well with it!
@LLV.MA5 I looked up what that correction factor is and it is how we both were looking at it. It is multiplied by 1.25.

I thought my truck had more power to the wheels but it is a lot faster than what it used to be. My next step without adding anything I guess would be to get a road tune or dyno tune to dial in my intake and header and various things, which hopefully will net me another 7 more hp to the wheels, but that may be a bit much to ask.

Does anyone know if tuning for 91 (the highest octane regularly found in NM) would be of any benefit for more power?

Re: My Project (Dyno Numbers)

Tune makes a good difference. All my 2.8 has at the moment is a performance tune and borla muffler. Its slow by all means but it does feel faster lol

Installed new shocks and brakes!

The new rear drums

I found the powerstop disks and pads for the best deal I've seen so I picked up that and also ordered belltech street performance struts and shocks. I also got new drums and pads and hardware for the rear. It all looks so nice!

Braking is better but I have not test them against the stock ones. If I ever have to come to a quick stop I'm sure I'll notice a difference. I can't tell much of a difference between shocks but I have only driven on the road. The stock brakes and shocks were still in good condition and could have lasted a while longer, but I wanted to upgrade before then.

Hopefully soon I will have the eaton truetrac. I need to order that when some money comes in.

I bought a limited slip differential. It's the Eaton Truetrac. It works great!

Great choice!
Re: My Project (Eaton Truetrac)

At the track last night. I was having issues with wheel hop, but later in the evening when more people left the truck seemed to hook at a 4000-4500 rpm launch. I will probably get some traction bars since they are cheap and will work for my purpose, plus they are less involved than caltracs. I hope to reduce my 60 foot time by .3.

I ran against this mustang and beat him until half track, which I thought was kinda sad on his part.

Re: My Project (Eaton Truetrac)

Eaton is doing a $50 rebate now til the end of August. Hopefully ordering next week
Re: My Project (Eaton Truetrac)

That's what I did. You'll love the truetrac. It would help with autox
Re: My Project (Eaton Truetrac)

Did you not have factory G80, or did you just want a TrueTrac?

Your video is private btw Jaymes!
Re: My Project (Eaton Truetrac)

Updated with video, it should not be private anymore.

It came with the open diff. I got the truetrac to help with overall driving in sand/mud/snow because my wifes mom lives in a place where those conditions occur and I've gotten stuck before. A plus is it helped a little at the drag strip.
