It does seem that it is either guys doing cam swaps or all out forced induction builds. I really can't think of anyone that did something in between.

Have you looked on performancetrucks at all? Sure, most of the guys are running full size trucks, but its the same idea.
not yet, guess thats a good place to look.. im wondering if n/a is the way to go, ive got 120k on mine so not sure what to do.. complete rebuild or slap on charger.. wondering price per hp what is the best.
What kind of numbers are you looking to get? What is it going to be used for?

Being that you're at 120k have you considered building/freshening up another motor? You could put together a 6.0 while still DDing your truck, then just drop it in when the time comes. Could also build up a tranny at the same time. Just a thought.
if your going for n/a power build a stroker
i think anywhere over 500 would just be the cats ass.
i am quad cab, 4x4, factory 5.3
a 408 would do it easy lots of grunt I have this planed to but going s/c
supercharging the 408? what kinda power are you expecting?
cdrgreysport did an NA build on a factory 5.3. Haven't been in touch for a long time as he and I both aren't very active, but I believe he made it to the low 13's with bolt ons.
i love these trucks especially with the v8 because they are so unique.. i just want the best bang for my $
im looking to sell my other truck to finance it.

He did that with just a mild cam swap and bolt ons (which plenty of guys on here have). I can't think of anyone who has done internals/heads/ect withought throwing forced induction at it.

Not bad numbers at all. Hoping that my truck will be right around there or slightly better once I get it all buttoned up.

My buddies 408 stoker on low boost is putting down 840rwhp.........in his C6. Low boost because his compression ratio is 10:1

So there is a ball park number. Even half that power is going to require upgrades to the rear end and transmission........not sure what you would do with the front differential or transfer case........quite certain they are not going to like anything over 400rwhp
the only time id even start pushing the truck would be in the sand and luckily it is very forgiving!

HAHA for me this is a false statement! I push the truck almost everywhere :th_woot:

I love my Maggie!!!!
what do you make for power?
just trying to get the best value, heads 2000-2500$ for some good ones, cam $price$?, headers 700$, better pistons $price$? could make what s/c does im thinking..??
im max out of fuel system right now, but im at 440 something RWHP and 440 something RWTQ.

8PSI, custom intake, DT long tubes, and dual 2.5 exhaust (no X pipe)

but also note that ive broken the factory output shaft on the trans and then burnt out 3rd gear on the second high HP build and now on the third. Although I do believe the second Trans shop could have done some things different and I think im in a good spot now. I do beat the shit out of the truck though. :D

well it will be a toy at this point so go big or go home right

my plans
custom lift
jana76 front diff - dana 60 modded to fit dana 70 gears
good ol 14bolt rear
4l80e
and run 40-44 tsl pitbulls

for all that weight it takes some grunt to get going
that will perform pretty bad ass! mine is more street/dunes, from your profile pick it looks as though you do some hard core wheeling.. cant wait to see it!
well heres an update, purchased a set of ottp headers, going to run 3" exhaust no cats. and.............. drum roll please.... i ordered a magnuson supercharger. hopefully by the end of summer ill have efans, cam swap, and upgraded torque converter.

a local shop is joining me for the build and we are going to use my truck to advertise for his shop so all the labor is.. FREE!!!
im super excited about the entire build and thankful for all the input on here!
