So im new to the whole forum thing so I hope to find some help out there. I have a 2006 Colorado with the 2.8. My truck is having a issue with starting. I turn the key and the lights turn off and nothing happens. The truck wont start not even try. There is a red car with a pad lock going through it. I read about HPtuners but the truck has to be on to do that. What are yalls opinions???

Could you give a bit more detailed information? Is the engine turning over but not starting? If it isn't turning over, can you hear the starter clicking when you turn the key? If the engine is not turning over at all, I don't think it is a PassLock issue. If the light are going off, when you turn the key, it sounds like a dead battery or a defective battery cable connection.
I think Passlock disables the starter in a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission?

If you do not have a manual transmission, then it's more along the lines of Cart's suggestions.

It's possible, but I haven't seen anything in the Service Manual (Description or Schematics) that indicates PassLock does any more than disable the fuel injectors.
When u turn the key to the "on" position the auto lights turn on. When I turn the key to "start" the lights turn on and there is only a click from the lights nothing else. I also have a brand new red top optima battery in the truck
Did this start after putting the Optima in?

I've seen a lot of Optimas with dead cells cause similar issues.
Battery cables are tight, I presume (gotta ask)? Could've fried the starter, relay, etc...meter the battery to check charge as sometimes they sit for awhile too. Good luck!
I only mentioned the manual transmission thing because once, a while back I indicated in a post that if it doesn't crank it should not be passlock. I was instantly 'corrected' by a few others. I really have nothing else to base that on, aside from those who let me know just how wrong I was. haha

Sounds like in this case it is a bad connection someplace.
you probbaly need to google key relearn and try that.
if that doesnt work, may i suggest 5 gals of gas and a match
I'm looking at the truck now. I noticed a white wire with a blue stripe that appears to be pulled out from somewhere. How can I post a pic?
This looks like it's suppose to go to the fuse box from underneath. Anybody know what it's for?

Humm...Passlock delete is accomplished by cutting a white wire with blue stripe. I wonder if previous owners have disabled it.

Check here and see if this harness/wire is what you're finding:
