Hi all, thanks for having me in the group,
I have a 2007 (2006 body style) GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with a 5.3 litre 327. My Tranny went last year and I had a local shop install a used one. I went to pick up my truck after the work was done and my battery was completely dead. After I boosted it I have had a series of electrical isssues:
-cluster gauge lights shut off periodically
  • windshield wipers are always on, can’t shut them off
  • door chime continuously beeps
  • electric start works but truck won’t stay running until key is in ignition and it is turned
  • key fob won’t lock or unlock doors

I have tried resetting the batter and replacing the ignition switch but I am at a loss. Any ideas on what the issue might be? Thanks

Off the cuff I'm questioning the correlation between the transmission work and the electrical problem. First thought is that within the ignition lock cylinder, at the bottom of the key slot, is a "key in" button that is depressed when (you guessed it) the key is installed. This button (among other things) triggers the chiming when the key is in and you open the door. It will also inhibit the electronic locking (so you don't lock your keys inside). Recommend you pull out the lock cylinder and see if (highly likely) its so full of gunk the "key in" button is stuck down.
