So after after 8 years with the chrome gmc grill i decided to swap to a painted colorado grill. I plasti dipped the white part over a week ago with clearcoat and it seems to have a tacky feeling. It has been very humid down here in Houston area. Maybe it will get better since its out of the hot shed and on truck and in the sun now. The black part i used gm black metallic from auto parts store. Primer paint and clear was real easy to shoot and results are much better than i expected.

I decided to paint the whole rear section black instead of white because i wanted it to blend in with the black housing headlights and help the center bar stand out more.

Notice anything different about the center bar. I wasnt paying close attention to the pics when i ordered off of ebay. But i kinda like the straight design without the humps above and below the bowtie.

Looks good, I am also really happy with my Colorado grill swap
Looks good. I like that paint scheme. Makes the front look like a trailblazer. I just might go back to my Colorado grille just to do this.
Looks good......whats the furture for that canyon grille?
came out really good nice work
That looks way nice good job
you could delete the bowtie and have a brandless grille, but i get that you just got out of not having one.
looks good! gimme the canyon one!

That thought is already running threw my mind. I not stuck on having a bowtie since it is in fact a gmc.
Im going to paint the gmc grill one day and then swap back so i can work on that plan. But first i need to find time to get some more drop on this thing. 3" was all my wife could handle but now i got her an suv so i can play again with my own truck.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks. I wasnt sure how this would look. I searched and found one truck that had the black and body color bar i think is was maroon. All others were just the stock dull black and chrome.
I still need to wet sand and buff the black out.
And another thing. I plan to paint the chrome bumper white when i get time. Normally i hate a chrome bumper if everything else is painted.
But im kinda ok with it for some reason.

What do yall think. Ill most likely plasti dip it to see if i really like it
That's just tits without the bowtie humps.

Is the grille center bar larger or is the bowtie smaller than stock?

Do you have the eBay link where this type grille was purchased?
I ordered back in late November. I dont have any info on the order. But i did go search again and a lot that i came across didnt have the humps. They dont state it. You just have to look close at the pics. Im assuming they changed it up so they wouldnt need licensing from gm to make this part.
It would be sweet to make a billet grill that dosnt have the cutouts for the humps

The bowtie is stock size. I ordered it seperate.
Did you have to purchase the center crossbar separate or did it come complete with the grille?
looks good!
throw some fog lights there bro!
Yeah thats the one.

fitsector. I would like to do some fog ligjts or some daytime leds down there.
Graph the GMC in the grill where the bowtie is, don't think I've seen that done yet, but if it has I'd like to see it
Why do I see no pics here?
