Hello Nation!
I am from a small town in Northeast WI. I acquired my 2006 Colorado 2.8 2WD AR5 W/T for $500 spring of 22. It was sitting on some property my buddy bought and it was very ripe inside lol. Over all, the body and frame were in great shape, so I wanted it.
It was originally purchased to participate in a gambler 500 type run. So I freshened up the brakes, put some 31” tires on it from my plow truck, made a custom bumper, and a couple other odds and ends to give it a loose pre-runner feel. We made it down the trails great. Even did some sketchy off trail stuff, but it held up fine!
We rode the trails to a hotel and when we went to take off in the morning, the 2.8 jumped timing and was a no go.
At that point, I knew there was only one fix, a 5.3 swap.
That’s where I’m at now. Have the engine/harness/computer out of a 03 suburban on my trailer. Everything else is ordered and on its way to make the AR5 work.
