Our I-5 motors are getting old and these engines are expensive to replace.
When is it time to trade it in before they become money pits?

When the engine or transmission goes boom, or your frame has holes in it, or both.

Lets say your truck isn't rusty and a bunch of wear parts need replacing at once. Brakes, tires, shocks, etc.
That could easily add up to over 2k. Let's just call it 3k because that sounds expensive.

$3000 over 1 year would be $250 a month

New Truck? 35k. 60 months with 0 down and 0 interest would be $583 a month
5k trade in? 30k over 60 months is 500 a month.

Keeping the truck will almost always be cheaper unless the frame is splitting in half or the inside of your engine suddenly becomes the outside.

If you enjoy making improvements and customizing then it’s cheaper to fix as it goes. I’m giving away an o8 3.7 that can be rebuilt just in time for when it’s needed. I upgraded to a 4.2L inline 6.

Damn, I didn't know a straight 6 would fit in there. Any pics?
