Currently, I have 4 Kicker Comp VR 12's and 5,500 watts running to it. I have a 5 cubic foot box built by mc, who used to be a decibel drag race judge and says that it's over 150 db. I will post pictures soon, but I'm curious as to see what everyone else has.

Gain control. ;)

I tuned his amp so that it's giving the subs enough to be loud as holy hell but not bottom out.

I kid you not though...I had 2 Alpine Type R's with 2200 watts running to them in my TransAm. I won several db drag competitions and ultimately hit within the 150-152 range on each spl meter. His system is at least that, probably a db more...:ugh:

It hurts.

For a non-professional (non sponsored) it's probably one of the loudest systems I've heard.

Oh, and, here's my setup:

1 JVC indash touch screen
2 Alpine Type S 6.5's
1 MTX 2 channel
1 XA-1500D
1 Orion 12
Custom built box (me)

I'll post piks after I get some more sleep, we were all up until 5 drinking. :kiki:

EDIT: Dammit, I can't sleep.

Here are some pics of my box, the dimensions are 12" deep by 12 1/8" tall by 41" wide. I covered it in grey vinyl that matches the interior pretty close and then I painted the sides with a gloss black for an industrial look. I added a spacer plate to the front and cut the edges at a 45 degree angle; it also received vinyl and I painted the exposed edges black.

That's a good setup, Alpine is one of my favorite head unit makers.

Does it have to be MA?

Also, I'd need to know what ohm your subs are, whether or not they're dual voice coil, etc. :)

If you're running dual 2 ohm subs, you can wire it so that the amp will see a 1 ohm load or a 4 ohm load. If you're running dual 4 ohm subs you can make the amp see a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load. There are other options, but those are the only ones that you'd really want to explore when it comes to sub amps.

Whatever you're running though, this amp appears to meet all your wattage needs. It may be a little overkill, but with the right tuning, it'll meet your expectations.

Yeah, if you're running two, those should cover you nicely. :)

You're covered for caps right? 1 farad for every 1K watts, above 3K watts, you want 1.5
