Yes, you read that correctly (09 3.7 5spd!) ;) but we'll get to that later.

Just saying...my buddy came up with White Lightning and I think it is hilarious and awesome for a slow truck so we're keeping it!

Some of you may remember my old truck (totaled back in November 2016):
https://www.355nation.net/forum/projects-build/66506-5cyl-screamer-9.html#post4325985

Well it has been almost a year but...I'm back with a new truck! Pictures and more information to come...

Performance:
DirtySouth tune
04-06 AEM intake with MAF adapter
KPE equal length header
Eaton true-trac with 3.73 gears
Borla ProXS 400481
open header cut out
Ported throttlebody
supersparkz

5 speed swapped with Hurst short throw shifter.

Interior (what is that?):
Gutted
driver seat only
no radio
kept A/C though. I'm not that crazy...yet

Exterior:
VIS Carbon Fiber Hood
Xtreme wheels with 275/40R18 Nitto NT555s
GMC grille with Steet Scene insert
Checkmate tonneau cover

Suspension:
Belltech 2xAdj coilovers and rear shocks
DJM Gen 2 control arms
MMW extended upper control arms
Belltech 3" Leaf springs
Belltech 1" blocks
helper spring mod on top front of Belltech leafs

I need to clean it up and do a photoshoot lol. Here are some pics for now though:

Oh and also... @ivan351 I'm coming for your record and then some! lol

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

I just swapped a 3.7 into my 04 5 speed this spring. REALLY fun to thrash around. You're going to love the combo.

@AJ1794 Which clutch did you go with? Also, thanks for ruining my "only 09+ 3.7 5 speed" claim lol

You still are the only "09+" 3.7 5 speed lol

I have the Southbend Stage 2 Endurance Clutch (K04241-HD-TZ). It is under the Hummer H3 3.7L on their website. I've got no complaints about it so far. Barely need to push the pedal down so with the Hurst short throw the shifts are really quick.

I was just thinking that a little bit ago but was like "oh well I already posted it" lol

Wow didn't know anyone but spec made an aftermarket clutch for us. What diameter is the clutch?

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Southbend only has the stage 1 as an option for the 5 speed 355's, not too sure why. The OEM Hummer clutch and southbend one are just over 11" IIRC and is an upgrade to our 10 3/8". It fits on a 3.5L flywheel no problem. Here's the stage 2 endurance:

Funny thing is they market this clutch as a stage 2 endurance but under their kit descriptions this is actually a stage 3 endurance because of the kevlar clutch material. The stage 2 endurance is supposed to have a sintered iron/organic clutch material. I'm not complaining either way.

I've got the OEM Hummer clutch in my truck. Thanks for the info on this stuff. So if I am getting this right though... Southbend makes a Stage 1 and Stage "2" clutch for our 5cyl 5 speeds?

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Ah gotcha.

So the plan for this weekend is to install my 3lb battery, strip the truck even further, new spark plugs, a small secret mod, and hit the track on Sunday. Get some times in with this baby and see how she does, hoping to get into the 13s but most likely will be low 14s as long as I can get it out of the hole.

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Well I only got 3 runs in today so I won't complain too much about the times I ran...

Say hello to the number 2 fastest n/a i5 and soon to be fastest n/a i5! lol

14.530 @ 99.14
14.009 @ 98.90
14.086 @ 98.98

2nd and 3rd run were much better launches than the 1st but still a lot of room to get quicker there. Need to reduce/eleminate wheel spin.

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Nice times! High 13's are within reach. Gives me some confidence of what I could run with more track time. I had the same MPH but my 60' sucked... (first and only event I ever ran). I'll have to run more events next year and chase you down.

Was that time on slicks or the NT555's?

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

The times were run on drag radials between 24 and 13psi (dropped between each run). I think 13.6-13.7 isn't completely out of the question if everything goes right.

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Hey guys, well I now hold the record for fastest n/a 5cyl on the forums! I think the truck has a little more in it so 13.6s might not be out of the question. We'll see how she does next time out at the track and keep an eye on the thread as there are some cool mods to come!

Re: Project "White Lightning" 09 3.7 5 speed

Bought some solid motor mounts which should be in today. Perfect timing since I had already planned to head to the track tomorrow! 13.5s here I come??!?!
