Good news, the weather looks like it's finally going to cooperate
looks fairly good for Fri. the tuner sent me an e-mail to bring the
the truck to him Fri at 5:30 pm as it's going to cool down at night,
he want's to put it back on the dyno and re tune it for me.
here's hoping it does much better. wish me luck.

Hoping you get those big numbers this time Al!

I have learned in the past few months that tuning these newer PCMs is anything but easy! There's no such thing as a simple VE table anymore...it's all equations (bunches of them!) that the PCM interprets to come up with the commanded AFR. It's a very time-consuming task to get right!

A good tuner is worth his weight in gold!

if this doesn't work, 6.2 here i come. my cam looks like a hot LS3 cam
if you look at the specs. LS3 .551/.525 204/211 LC/117
mine .556/.568 210/224 LC/114 just a little more everywhere. 1500-6600rpm
it mite need more air flow to work right.

PS: Just looking for 300+ HP it will make me happy

Al, this is a question, not a suggestion, because I've never heard of anyone doing this...

Since your cam is so heavy to the exhaust side, have you considered putting 1.75 or 1.8 rockers on the intake valves?

Tony, yes i have thought about it. even looking around for a 1/2 set
going to see if they have any at the shop tomorrow nite when i go
for the tune.

Joe, stock lifters, upgraded Comp trunion roller bearings, new Comp springs
and pushrods.

Tony, how much more lift would i get from a 1.75 and 1.80 ? .556 lift now
will i have enough clearance ?

you should be able to make at least 300hp, im making 332hp with the same mods as you just a slightly bigger cam than yours

Tony said he was told my cam is for bigger motor 6.2. and it's not really for a 5.3.
but i am stuck with it now that it's in

More cam will just require more air and exhaust flow to work as desired.

I think a full set of rockers would be a great investment; I've read of guys with LS motors picking up 10-15 hp with those alone.

1.75 / 1.7 = 1.029 X current lift yields new lift?
1.8 / 1.7 = 1.059 X current lift yields new lift?

ok, I did the math, 1.75=.572 / 1.80=.589 on just the intake valve.
so with the shorter int dur of 210 deg this mite help the air flow.
1BadI5, no prob with Exh and i have a 90mm TB that i am installing
as soon as i get my new 4" air tube parts.

Duration @.050 is also increased slightly with higher ratio rockers. I don't remember the math, but duration increases because the .050 lift point is reached sooner when opening and later when closing. So you'll have something like 212 intake duration @ .050

Well the weather is perfect today. 59° now with a high of 81°. Should be ideal for making power. Best of luck Al.
