Have you tried pushing the seat back against the wall and then tried releasing the latch?
rear seat back won't release
The pull tab is pulled all the way out, and won't retract. I've removed the pivot bolt and wiggled every way I can, but I can't get the latch to release the driver side rear seatback.

I had issues with mine and found that if I put some downward pressure on the seatback, it unlatched no problem.
