Hey all. Just getting time to dig into my recently acquired 2007 Canyon.

Opened the hood and saw the warning label in the picture.

Looked under the dash, didn't seen anything out of the ordinary...but I've never had remote start so I don't really know what I'd be looking for.

I only have the stock key fobs, and don't think this truck has remote start...any thoughts?

aftermarket from previous owner more than likely who had a separate starter that got lost in transition when they traded it in or whatever

It may have had an aftermarket remote start on it at one time. I have had plenty of cars with factory remote start and none have had a warning lable under the hood. Possible the aftermarket system they used does not have all the safeguards the factory uses.

Previous owner was an old farmer, maybe the kids got it for him for Christmas or something, and scammed it out before the traded it in?

I think it'll be coming off this weekend just like the dealer sticker on the tailgate.

Removing those dealer stickers are the first "Mod" I do to a Car. At least it isn't like in the 60's and 70's when they would have a metal emblem that they would drill holes to screw it on.

So it turns out the truck has a Compustar CM600S remote start installed.

It only came with the factory key fobs though. According to the compustar site, the system can be set to use the factory key fobs, but I have not yet cracked the sequence.

Tried pressing lock 3 times. No luck. Still trying things...anyone else have this system installed? And if so are you using the Compustar fob or oem?

Hit lock unlock then hold lock it will start with factory fobs
