removing DIY bedliner

has anybody successfully removed a DIY bed liner? i just bought a canyon with a crappy spray/roll in bed liner. Not sure of the brand, but its thin, cracking, chipping and flaking off. I want to remove it mostly or completely, just enough so that i can take it to LineX to get it re-done. will LineX or whoever remove it before they install theirs? if anybody has experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

The shop may do it for you but it will probably be a little additional charge.

If the new liners are sprayed in like they were in the past, they need to strip it to metal anyway.

This sounds like it will be the case. They will probably do it for more money, so your best bet is to try to get as much off the old liner off as possible if you can. Have you called any shops for quote's?
Good idea about a quote. Depending on how much different it is in cost, you can possible save yourself some serious labor of your own.
im going to try call some places tomorrow, i just keep forgetting. wanted to see if anyone had experience with this on here first.
I just did a quick search about it. Seems like if you want to remove it your self you could try paint thinner, or a power tool with a wire wheel, or cut it with a knife and peel it off. Either way the reason you have the cracking/peeling/flaking is probably poor prep work. Like 08Canyon said, the pros probably need to strip it anyway. Anything you can get off I'm sure would be better cost wise. Other than that, the suggestions were to just put a plastic liner over it.
If its flaking off try to scrape it off with a scraper, or a putty knife.
Most of the DIY bedliners, with very few exceptions, are junk.

Monstaliner is about the only DIY I would trust, and only because I've seen people complain about all the rest, and haven't seen anyone complain about Monstaliner.

My truck bed has 1/4" Rhino on it and it's absolutely crazy how well it's held up, especially since I abuse the crap out of it.
If it's cracking and peeling already, I wonder if something like a power washer would take care of it. Since you're going to get it resprayed anyhow, if it pulls the paint up at the same time it's no big deal.
It will be a pain. I had to use numerous flap disks to get the bedliner off my bumper before I had it sprayed with LineX.

I would say have them deal with it and pay the money just because of my experience with it last time.
Take a power drill and a wire brush "bit" and go to town.
i called two places today. one guy said he wouldnt touch it until i removed it all. the other told me to come by so he could see what he was dealing with before he told me anything price wise. i think ill try the wire wheel on a grinder tomorrow and see how it goes.
try aircraft remover, dont let it hit your skin, it tingles. lol. and some scrapers, and have fun!

Aircraft is supposed to be pretty good! I'm not sure how good raptor bed liner is, but we sell the hell out of it at work.

hit it with a wire wheel today, it worked on the places that were flaking off. But it didnt really work well on the parts that were falling off, just melted it. i guess aircraft remover is next...
Man that's gonna make a mess...
I doubt anything chemical will touch it, but maybe. I would try media blasting.
