Anyone want to offer advice for a replacement steering rack?
Buy new, or is this something you would consider using a remanufactured part?

i see nothing wrong with buying a remanufactured unit as long as it comes from a reputable source, ACDelco is "reputable" in my book.

I replaced mine with a reman from napa. Worked fine but I didn't keep the truck long enough to know how long it would last.

I've replaced mine twice with rebuilts at a local shop. First one I paid for, 2nd was under 'warrantee'. Don't know where they came from. Needs to be done again. Going for an AC Delco reman this time and doing it myself.

I guess I would think about why the rack failed. If you think it was just normal wear & tear over time/miles, then reman should be fine. If it failed abnormally soon I would prefer a new rack... but only after figuring out why it failed so soon (if possible).

Hasn't failed, just has minor leakage. Truck is an '05 and has 135K miles.
I'm planning a major front-end rebuild in a few weeks, so I may as well replace the rack at that time. A new (or reman) rack will include inner tie-rods.
