Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Nothing crazy is going to happen
That's how it usually starts...

Nice ride, it will look great lowered. Plus there are a lot of other low budget mods on here so you can still work on the dime. And yeah, I'd like to see the build on said s-10

:welcome2:
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

This is how it all starts :) and the addiction begins. Will look good dropped.
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Good start, cant wait to see what other mods you come up with
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

just ordered these. hopefully they'll be in at the same time as my hids

2004-2011 GMC CANYON/COLORADO LED HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS BLK | eBay
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

hids came in today. was gonna wait for my new headlights to come in before i put them in but im impatient. 3 sets of ddm 10k 35w hids in 9005,9005, and h10. badass night time pics to come!

Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

so, my headlights came in. i then realized i completely overlooked the fact that these projector headlights use h1 bulbs instead of 9005 and 9006. so i have 4 useless hid bulbs. i ordered 4 h1 10k ddm bulbs and installed my headlights today.

heres some pics. i might make a how to.

factory headlights and corners!

new guys.

skipping the disassemble pics

corner lenses and grill off

got some looming and decided to tidy up the headlight wires

connected halo and led pos/negs together

used male blade connectors on led and halo positives and begatives. yes the looming is to big lol, its all i had and it works.

pulled back factory looming on low beam harness. blue is positive and orange is negative.

spliced in wires with female blade ends into factory harness.

loomed up.

for the corner lenses i removed the drl harness and removed the metal clip because the aftermarket lenses dont have anything to clip to.

then i used 3m mounted tape to mount the harness to the aftermarket lenses

and finally assembly!

since everything was apart and i hate rats nests of wires. i took the time to mount my hid ballast with 3m mounting tape.

to the air cleaner box on the passenger side

and to the only flat ares i could find on the driver's side lol

while i was at it a also flipped my third brake light

factory position

took it off and dremeled it down for a flush fit

flipped

slowly getting there! :th_woot:

thanks. :th_woot:

just curiously. is you bumper an ss bumper? if so, where did you get it, how does it fit, and do they look right without fender flares?

sorry for hammering you with questions lol
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

ridgeness, It appears that you do not have the Onstar/Satellite antenna on the roof. There aren't many things that "bug" me about my Colorado, but that is one of them. Most vehicles have moved to a single antenna, mounted in the rear IN THE CENTER! Do you know what replaced that antenna on your truck or is yours a WT? I like your lights!!

mines not a work truck. it's an lt. it just isnt equipped with onstar so there is no need for the antenna. a guy at my work has a 2012 with onstar and the antenna is on the front passenger side i think.
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Slowly but surely
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Wait wait wait... we could get them... WITHOUT onstar?

Damn. Wish I'd known that.
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

I think flipping my third brake light has caused a leak....the corner of my headliner and parts of my seats are damp :/
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

flipped the 3rd brake light back and what do you know, leak fixed. i'll probably keep it factory for now.

i plan on re wiring my headlight's leds and halos into my drl harness so they will flash when i use my keyless entry. ordered a few cheap white and red 921 leds for my 3rd brake light and license plate lights. all 4 h1 led bulbs should be in this week. and this weekend im driving back home to louisiana to visit my girl and family and hopefully gather some stuff together to get my old s10 hauled up here.

more updates to come.
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

I'm personally not a fan of the projector headlights, but nice progress and  on the nice wiring job.

thanks, im 50/50 on the projectors lol. there are only a few that i will get. such as these. the only issue with them is the bulb fitment on one of the corner lenses. they were a pain to turn and now one of the corner lenses is getting condensation on the inside. its urking my nerves.
Re: 2012 Colorado Build - Blackout

Might have to bake them. I have had problems with both sets of stock DRLs that I have had sealing correctly. Still need to bake the current ones but here in AZ there really isn't mush water to contend with
