So today I was going to install my sing din CD player in my 2012 Colorado, everything was going good till, I couldn't find a connecter that wouldn't connect the aftermarket CD player.. Any suggestions on this? I went to auto zone looking for one and no luck.

I need a connecter to connect both of theses. All the ones at auto zone was just the one long connecter

Bestbuy sells the harness you need. Or order online.

Do not purchase the Scosche harness from Walmart.
You are looking for a product of GMRC or GMOS. Either of the two are preferred and retail around $80. You can find them less online.
How do you wire the little black block in? Is that for the onstar or something?
The black one is for the auxilary if iam not mistaken your truck is equipped with a multiple cd changer
My truck is the work truck edition and the stock head unit doesn't even have a CD player. There's got to be cheaper wiring harness to hook it up other than the 100$ gmos. My truck has on star,
but why would you need the spsocial harness to keep it and the chimes if your just going to wire the connectors to the aftermarket CD player And plug it into the stock ones.?

The stereo and aftermarket harness adapters are data-bus signal pass-through to the BCM. A faulty wiring job or harness adapter can render the truck inoperable. Spend the money and get the Metra GMOS if you want to keep OnStar or the Metra GMRC if you don't want to keep Onstar
Hey guys - i'll be installing a new unit soon as well.. so I can't just splice the wires and solder them? I don't care for chimes, and my radio only has one connecting wire bundle if I remember correctly

The instructions are adequate at showing how to install.

You can solder if you prefer. I did not. I use a western union twist connection technique and tape the connection, personally.
I god everything at Crutchfield.com...harnesses, mounting hardware and elec interface (e.g. chimes). I like how intuitive their site is...makes it foolproof. Also, if you don't do the chimes, don't forget the lights on. Trust me...it happens. My son killed his battery...three times now.
I did mine without the harness and used this as a guide for wire matching.

Then i used this video for my ignition and it works like a charm

Thanks! That is a huge help
Glad to help bro! Hope it all works out for you. Post your finished product

Oh and my truck also has just one connector.
You definitely can connect the stereo directly. But be aware if you experience problems in the future, it probably points back to the radio. Odd electrical problems I mean, like the wipers mysteriously come on, or the right headlight quits.

Also, if you don't have to cut off the factory harness, don't do it. It really is not a good option. Plus it complicates things for future owners.
In that video, which wire is coming off the radio harness to connect to the blue/Gray thing? Kinda confused as I do t think he says unless I missed it. Doing this will allow for the radio to shut off when the key is shut off right?
hey guys - first I need to apologize for how stupid my last post was that was such an obvious answer that slipped my mind.

Couple actual questions now:
Based on @asalinasz39 pdf that had wire charts, i'm having some trouble.
it says yellow wire to red for ignition, as well as yellow wire to green/black for LR speaker
I only have 1 yellow wire for the LR speaker.
Also, I have a purple wire that doesn't matchup, would that be the pink that goes to blue for antenna turn on?
Also do not have a solid black, but blk/wh
finally - my units harness has a blue/white wire - no idea what that's for, maybe the blutooth?

sorry for long winded post. hopefully you guys can help out. Thanks!

I personally can't be of any help with the wiring when not using a harness (never done it and don't know exactly what the colors are or what the wires for the BUS system do). However the blue wire is either an antenna turn on or remote turn on for an amp. They are both blue and I do not remember which is with the white stripe.

If you don't have a retractable antenna, or an amp you won't need that wire.

I do think the purple wire is one of the BUS connections though. And I believe yellow is hot, constant power where a red is switched. Generally speaking. If your wire diagram from the harness says otherwise, believe the printed information before you believe me.
