How cold was the outside temps?
In the cold, metal shrinks and gets smaller, after awhile of many repeated circles especially if there are two types of metals being tied together. They cause the connections to become loose. I see it all the time with my lab QC temperature chamber.

Another problem is cheap electronics or poorly engineered will have a narrow temp range.

What is your total sub speaker ohms.
Are you less than 2 or 1 ohms. It's also possible that your triggering the amp foldback circuit.
Measure the sub ohms when this happens.

I have had a couple of week long single digit temperatures

My amp has got some age on it. It has a bad connection or a short it because one sub makes loud feedback most of the time. If everyone thinks the amp is the problem it will be a good excuse to get a new one.

As in my head unit i have the remote wire ran to a fuse in the fuse box to let it be a switched 12 as i didnt want to pay big money for the adaptor that makes one. Also i did try to jump it off by running the remote straight to the 12V power on my amp with no feedback from it so i would think that that would take the remote wire out of the equation.

I just dont understand why when i switched power wires it worked for a period of time before the next freeze we had. I thought about the possibility of a loose wire so i actually removed all wires and put them back to make sure they are tight with no result

Ya sounds like the amp is on it's last legs. You should try re-solder flowing the PCboard.
In mass production they use a technique called wave solder. basically looks like a water fall of hot solder.
Problem with that is, The places that carry more amps don't get enough solder and eventually break loose.
