i am having a weird problem. one day when i went into the garage which is not temp controlled to start the colorado the amp turned on for just a second and died. so i went through a few steps like running the remote wire straight to power to get anything nothing new fuse nothing even ran the truck with the heat cranked and windows up for about a hour straight thinking the amp was to cold. i ended up going inside my basement with is temp controlled got a new power wire hooked it up and was good to go. so i ran that wire and just threw the other in the garage. well last week went out again to check the battery and again the amp came on and turned right back off.

i am stumped only thing i could think is the fuse in the power wire is freezing. i have never had this problem with any other vehicles but they all have always been temp controlled

I have had a couple of week long single digit temperatures

My amp has got some age on it. It has a bad connection or a short it because one sub makes loud feedback most of the time. If everyone thinks the amp is the problem it will be a good excuse to get a new one.

As in my head unit i have the remote wire ran to a fuse in the fuse box to let it be a switched 12 as i didnt want to pay big money for the adaptor that makes one. Also i did try to jump it off by running the remote straight to the 12V power on my amp with no feedback from it so i would think that that would take the remote wire out of the equation.

I just dont understand why when i switched power wires it worked for a period of time before the next freeze we had. I thought about the possibility of a loose wire so i actually removed all wires and put them back to make sure they are tight with no result
