Yeah, that buildup on the top of the tank is sand, salt, dirt and rust from being in upstate NY. AZ should be fine, might not even have any rust at all, just a pile of sand.
good luck man, take pics - I have a sinking feeling that an unfixable p0455 with other symptoms is going to result from this issue for a ton of other members - and I'm sure none of them want to sink $1k into a new gas tank to get those retainer clips replaced on the top of the tank.Andy; Great job finding the fix & I think she's good for another 10-15 yrs with your proprietary GM seal. I'm going to take a peek at mine today...hope she's not showing nearly as much rust/corrosion.
Yeah, good points. Now to determine why I'm leaking gas when I fill up and starving at low fuel :th_woot:Yeah, that buildup on the top of the tank is sand, salt, dirt and rust from being in upstate NY. AZ should be fine, might not even have any rust at all, just a pile of sand.
I'll do that lolWay easier to pull the fender liner to check first. Might not be a reason to pull the tank at all.

These may be in future mods....Don't leave home without em. Takes some squish out of the braking and definitely transmits some more firmness/feedback thru the pedal.
