Alright I believe my BCM is going, I will post about that in another thread. Anyways I am trying to make sense of BCM part numbers. The part number I pulled out of my 2006 Colorado 4WD Z71 Crew Cab with keyless entry passlock and daytime running lights is 15802490. I called GM, they couldn't find that part number in their system but later found it in engineering notes. They told me the correct part number is 15802494. They also told me that it is discontinued and that there is none in stock worldwide. I checked Amazon, Rock Auto and they are all out of stock. The only parts store that even carries a BCM is O'Reilly's, they contacted their source, Dorman and they do re-manufacture them but have none in stock and don't know when they will get some more. I only found Summit and one other online store and they buy from Dorman and both called and got the same answer as O'Reilly.
I am left with EBay Auto yard sellers. Most won't tell me which part number it is unless I have sent them payment so I don't know if I will get the right one and good luck trying to get that returned if it is the wrong one. I did order from one wrecking yard that said they had a 15802494 but for some reason I got a 10394234. They did refund me though. Anyways I found this list below from http://oemcats.com/oem-parts/15802494.html and there is a lot of part number changes. I know the list below is the BCM's with keyless entry (there is a whole other list just as long for trucks with out keyless entry. My question is why are there so many part numbers? I heard that the BCM's were notoriously badly designed or manufactured for this truck and that is why there is so many part numbers. Will any of the part numbers below work in my truck? I would be worried about putting an older part number in and having problem. I can't just put this in and try it, I have to get GM to program it at a high cost just to see.
