I'm currently running a tune for 93 octane. If I start using 87 octane will that cause any harm or problems? Obviously running at 87 won't get me the added benefits of the tune but the reason I ask is I might be passing the truck onto my little brother so I don't want him paying for premium. Any help would be great, thanks.

The engine will knock and ping at higher rpm's I believe if it's tuned for the higher octane. I would tell him to run at least 89 octane and once in a while fill up with 91. Really the cost difference between 87 and 91 would only be about $3 on a full tank, why not just use the higher octane?

^ As said above

There's several octane tables that can be setup for example either 89 ~ 91 on your truck.
Most tuners take the easy route and just copy and paste the hi octane tables in to the low.

In your case the hi octane is already scaled, just have him tune the low octane tables.
Scan for knock and AFR.
