Re: Uncanny build thread (5 speed swap is on!!!!)

So she is running good. Feels much stroner as a 5 speed.

I messed up the case relearn I did the other day so i have to redo that. I plugged in the other bcm to correct milage which brought them up to my previous miles but its not counting so i guess I need to use my old bcm. She has fresh valvoline in the crank case. Fresh severe gear in the trans. I found a clicking noise while turning left cause by the driveshaft bumping into the bent gas tank shield.

Still on the list is reinstall my system, rerun the wires for my gentex mirror, and reinstall all the interior panels.

Re: Uncanny build thread (5 speed swap is on!!!!)

So after driving it for a week, I love this thing again. She drives smooth. Has the power when i want it but is still an easy cruiser. I need to get the interior back together so i can run it thru emissions.

IF I remember correctly, if the odometer shows more mileage than the BCM, it will not count until they match up.

If you install a cluster to a bcm with more miles than the odometer it will update to the higher mileage...

Something to do with the odometer not showing less miles than on the vehicle.

Its been a bit since I posted. I just buttoned up the last few loose ends after the swap. I replaced the broken parking brake pedal, I got my mirror rewired, finished the wiring for the third brake light, and got the subs reinstalled. I also ran the reverse signal to the head unit for when i install a backup camera. I also fixed my loose tail lights.

Well i think the throw out bearing is going out. I dropped the clutch to leave a cloud and I've been hearing a clicking noise since. It's loud enough to make the pcm trigger a knock sensor code. So that's fun. Also ive been having an issue with the idle dipping sometimes. It only seems to happen when just parked. But it won't throw any related codes.

So im working on fixing my cruise control. Ever since the swap it hasn't worked but so many things got changed during the swap that I didnt know where to start. I've checked fuses and all are good. Also all the brake lights are good as well which leads me to believe the brake switch is ok. The clutch pedal switch seems to be functioning which leads me to the multi function switch.

I've figured out the issue I believe. The manual cruise switch apparently will not work with the auto bcm. So when I swapped the whole column I ended with the manual cruise switch. Which isn't working due to now park signal.

Also I threw in a new slave today. Was not the rattle I thought I heard, although the throw out bearing was in pretty sad shape.

So the rattling I was hearing was pinging (detonation) . I changed the knock sensor and it disappeared. I also tossed in the manual pcm I had kicking around and now the cruise control works perfect. It also finally threw a check engine light for the misfire I've been having. P0302. I'm gonna try a new coil on 2 and see if that helps. Also my dreaded p0017 popped back up.
