I'm changing the O2 Sensors in my 2008 Z85 2.9L Colorado with 77K Miles.
Why? I changed the spark plugs and 3 out of 4 of the spark plugs were fouled.
The looked dark, Not oily or wet, just sooty. One of the plugs looked normal (the front one).
So, I replaced all of the Coils and wanted to replace the O2 Sensors as well.
NOTE: I also put some seafoam in the tank to clean the injectors

My question is this. Is there a difference between the Up and down stream 02 Sensors other than the cables?

The reason why I'm asking: I ordered what was described as an Upstream O2 Sensor for my truck but it looks just like the Downstream O2. SO I went back to Rock Auto and sure enough I found another up Stream that looked just like the Up steam O2 in my truck (plug and all).

Can I use the first O2 that I received for the downstream, even though it's considered an up stream at Rock Auto? Is there any diference other than the plug? I have seen other O2 Sensors where you have to build the plug. What gives?
I'm really after the upstream. I just ordered the correct one (I Hope )

RockAuto lists three different O2 sensors for a 2008, 2.9. Upstream: ACDelco part number 2133207 (GM PN 12592592). Center (downstream) ACDelco part number 2133908 (GM PN 12604575). Those two are the ones that were installed at the factory. The ACDelco Professional part number 2134348 (GM PN 19187278) is interchangeable with 2133207 (12592592). You can't use an "upstream" sensor in the "downstream" position or vice-versa.

WOW!!! I just saw where you live! I lived just out side the HAFB near the west gate. Very close the the race track. We moved to GA in 1997.

Yeah, it looks like you have the two sensors that you need.

I'm about three miles from HAFB. Retired from there, before Andrew tore it up in '92.

The electrical plugs are fool proof so you can't swap them around and the shields are different type construction for each location.
