I saw these map lights on another forum and it started me thinking of using them in my truck.

They're from a 1989-1993 Mk3 Volkswagen Jetta and Golf.

The dome light in my truck is behind the driver because of the sunroof and the rearview mirror doesn't include map lights. It's difficult if I need to read something at night since the light source is behind me. I was thinking I could hide them under the visors. I could hook them into the existing map light buttons in my dome light. The small size give you lots of mounting options and oem look is appealing.

What do you think?

Smart!
Those should look very nice and neat.

Cost?
Let's see... get 'em from a scrapyard, probably $5.
Get 'em from an ebay seller, maybe $8.

Get 'em from a VW dealer.... probably $3,432.55.
...plus tax.

I've been thinking of something similar, but for the backseat. My daughter is an avid reader and when we are out out night she can't really read, unless she brought her Kindle. It could also come in handy to light up the back area when I need just a little more light back there.
