Hey yall, im doing a rebuild on my truck :ugh:, its the 2.9l, is there any tricks or hints you could give me to help out, ive never rebuilt an inline or a 4 cyl before. Thanks in advance.

I don't think anyone's rebuilt one. Most just get another motor.

Ya I had to get a new one but im taking the old one and want to rebuild it and maybe make something frankenstein-ish out of it. Maybe lol

May wanna pick up a Chiltons manual. I'm not sure how detailed they get on the motor rebuilding but ether way they r helpful knowledge

Thanks, I have one already downloaded on my comp, its ok I was just wondering about tips or something that anyone has run into that makes it easier for whatever.

If you're doing it just for fun and to learn about the motor, just get the GM manual and follow it step-by-step.
If you want to build a power house you could: port and polish head, get forged rods, 2.9 sleeves and pistons. Tap a whole for the turbo oil return while you're in there!
