Speaking from a 3.5 to 3.7 swap wise.. Not whats different on the engine..

if you have a COMPLETE 3.5 and and get a 3.7 will EVERYTHING swap over?

Do you need a new harness?

New ECU?

Would my volant work?

blah blah blah

Etc etc etc..

I know someone did a swap on Cfans a while ago and said it was a breeze.. but I've been searching and the way that site is set up makes MY FUCKING HEAD HURT trying to navigate it atol!! :mad3::disgust:

There was a bit of info, but I trust the knowlegable people here more, so wanted to ask..

I know its been covered and I thinks its pretty easy.. I just cant find anything on it. so just axin for help :salute:

-3.5 harness should be usable on the 3.7.

-you dont need a new ECU...the guy that did the swap on cfans used the 3.5 tuning until he got tuned.

- volant intake with work with a MAF sensor adapter.

just use the long block from the 3.7

you'll use ALL of your stock stuff. The only things from the 3.7 you'll use:

intake manifold (may not need to) but use your 3.5 fuel rail

exhaust manifold (ports on the 3.5 manifold may not be large enough)

everything else will swap over.

so the only external thing I need is the 3.7 manifold? everything is swapable?

Wow, this is good news. I'm planning on doing this swap sometime next year. I'm putting so many miles on I'll need it by then!

What about with the tranny? Any changes need for manual?

if you have a manual I would suggest an upgrade to the 2007 h3 clutch at the same time, its a bit larger to handle the extra power.

and Bheath, no time like the present to start collecting parts! check with Carbon about the H3 clutch ;)

Well, my hand may have been forced on this sooner then I expected it..


-so everything will work when swapping with an auto?

-if I cant get the manifold what should I do? port mine? JTR header?

-what about tune wise? what will I need to do for it to run...

-what plugs should I run

-depends on how much u wanna spend ;)

-ACDelco stockers should be fine (unless your talking about someother plugs)


OH AND Stocker2 was the guy in Houston, TX who did the swap. IDK what he did tune wise since he is a well respected tuner himself.

just thought id point that out but i think thats only on the 2008s right?

They switched from the PCM to an ECM/TCM combo for '08. '07 3.7L's still had the same PCM as us. I don't see why you couldn't use an '08, but there's really no way to tell without having both in front of you. The only thing I could see them changing is maybe a few sensors/connectors.

Why would one want a 3.7 over the 3.5? What makes it worth the swap?
3.7L makes more HP. It has larger intake/exhaust valves, larger exhaust ports, revised camshafts, more displacement, and several other things I'm not thinking of right now.

and plus, if you can swap to a 3.7 for the same price as a 3.5 .... WHY NOT?!?! lol
