ok, so this will be for my fathers '06 Rado CC Z71 4x4... I'll let it be known now, he just wants to replace everything as cheap as possible, and just have an overall better sound then his factory setup... so no bass, no amps, no subs, etc... just a basic basic HU (mainly just having a USB port for his flash drives), then replacement door speakers (since he's blown 2 sets of factory ones as it is (they were replaced under warranty))...
from searching on here, it looks like he has 6.5's in each door, and he just told me today that he does have tweeters in his front doors (or at least the little honeycomb on the panel), so is this true for the CC Rado's? He also has the indash 6 disc CD player, and to my knowledge, he doesnt have any kind of "sound" package, ie: BOSE, Monsoon, whatever you wanna call it lol...
Also from reading on here, there are 2 ways to retain RAP's with an aftermarket HU... i saw the RAP mod, and then a GMOS-01 or Scosche equivalent... Knowing my father, he is not going to want any wire/fuse cutting/splicing for retaining his RAP's... so wire harness it is... whats everyones experience with their wire harness? Keep in mind, he wants to keep his RAP's and he does not have OnStar or XM, so no cheapy $15 wally world harness, then looking for a 12V Ignition... If there is a amplified factory system on here, how did you guys/gals bypass it? Finally, his replacement speakers... what have you all used?
His budget is looking to be about $200-$300 for everything... I just overhauled my DD 2001 Grand Prix GT for $169.00 (Sony Single Din HU, and Rockford Fostgate Prime Components, wire harness, antenna adapter, mounting kit ), so a budget build can be done and sound 10 times better then stock...
so what are all your thoughts and suggestions here...
