Motor mounts are different on the 5.3 I believe.

 

Do you know if I can adapt the motor mounts or swap the crossmember

 

The holes are present

 

So I can just reuse the motor mounts I already have then?

 

From what I found the 5.3 wasn't a west coast option, definitely an east coast or Canada option

 

That makes so little sense, either way that's what I've got. From everything I read I should be fine swapping frames. I am going to document everything. Unfortunately I have to use an 04 frame which will require slight modification from what I can tell. But I wont know for sure until the frame gets delivered, won't be til end of next week. GM lists that they're compatible someone told me the front and rear bumper mounts may be different. Very first thing is the frame is going to the paint shop for powder coating and rust proofing the inside of the fame. I'll start a new thread when I start the swap. Thanks everyone.

 

Hello, did you ever did the other thread? I got a 2012 5.3 and looking to swap frame in the near future. Same problem with rust in New England.

 

Find a donor matching your cab style and 2wd or 4wd

If using a 4/5 cyl frame under a V8, then use CPW V8 swap mounts or cut the V8 mounts off your junk frame

The rest of the frame won't change

 

How did the swap go? Where did you find a frame?

 

I found a frame, unfortunately I had to put the project on hold for a good while due to moving, actually just started working on it again yesterday. Trying to determine now how to get the cab off and swapped over to the new frame as I don't have a lift.
