hey guys, swapping in a LQ4 v8 turbo motor into my 05 worktruck, and wondering if the stock 5.3 radiator will hold up to the abuse with the plastic end tanks, or if its available/worth upgrading to a completely aluminum radiator so that its failsafe in the aspects of handling the underhood heat from turbo setup. and if you know of any aluminum radiators could you link me to them. thanks

The radiators in the 4,5,8 cylinder automatic transmission trucks are all the same but I know alot of the swapped trucks are still using them.

I think I'd do a little cutting and fit the biggest summit racing crossflow radiator without a transmission cooler I could. Add an external trans cooler and call it a day.

The radiators are NOT the same between i4/i5 and V8...

The V8 Radiator is 2 core and holds 13 quarts of fluid, whereas the i4/i5 radiator only holds 10 Quarts and is single core.

The V8 Radiator also has 4 plates for the Transcooler vs. 3 on the i4/i5 setup.

The V8 radiator bolts right in... and is a common upgrade. The V8 Radiator is being run in plenty of trucks making 6-800HP....

Consider your TRUE goals... if you're not going to be making more than 700ish HP... Grab you a V8 radiator... And a separate Trans Cooler... Save the cash.
