dome light question

is there a switch that controls it (not the dimmer)?

Recently the interior lights don't come on after I shut the truck off and open the door to get out like they used to. But when I hit the keyfob to unlock the doors to get in the interior lights do come on like normal, and they also work when I turn the dimmer switch all the way up. I figure the door jam switch is good, because when I open the door I get the "DOORS" readout in the DIC, so I assume the door jam switch is good.

I could understand if they never worked and would start checking fuses and wiring, but since they consistently only work in certain situations I'm stumped.

any thoughts?

Quick question, there is a button located to the lower left of the light switch that can be pushed in. Is it in the outermost position?
wow....just wow.........To rab who mentioned the dome override switch.......Its been like this for 2 weeks and I've only half cared......over complicating a simple user error. I'll go bash my head against the wall for the stupidity. I can't believe I missed that....

SHIT, I'm retarded
should have searched first, found this in an old thread

feel free to make fun of me :hide:

IF you look at the driver's side door frame, you will see a twisted pair of wires running along the door frame above the headliner..those feed it. Test there..if you now have voltage then you willl need a new dome light itself. IF you do not, then you have a short somewhere along that twisted pair. track it down till it hits the fuse box. You will not have to look far my friend.

Btw, all you have to do is pull down the door seal. NOT the headliner.. The twisted pair will be obvious right there..it cuts across right at the split from back door to front door jamb. Anywhere before then and your golden. BTW, you have a quick disconect up there about a foot or so from the door jamb itself towards the light. IT could be making poor contact..Also a thought....

No problem at all brother. Remember..the SAME circuit that powers the floor lights ALSO power's the dome light. that being said, CAN NOT be a fuse..has to be either that quick connect, bad wiring, OR the dome light itself.
