Hey so want/ need to make my exhaust turn down before my axle, so was wondering what the benefits would be to take my current dual Magnaflow duals and turn them down with tips vs, getting an MBRP single turn down?

Well the drown be worse with dual? Will i lose power going from dual to single?

First off the truck will sound louder I did the same thing with my rig had a complete magnaflow exhust and in the summer time when I went racing my truck I tuck the tail pipes off and ran the exshust just off the muffler boy was it loud and I believe it took hp off then I found the Cherry bomb y pipe and its alot quiter and with the back presure it feels stronger and the sound isnt right below me

The turn-down before the axle will create dust storms under the truck, kinda like a hovercraft. And it is loud because of the echo effect. Had it for a while myself, draws cops (magnetized) and that's not what Lil Nag is about. She sleeps.
Just saying.

Do what ever you can to get it back as far a you can. I had mine dumped before axle and with 100sq ft of fat mat it was still super fucking loud! I finally got it like a factory turn down. Right before the bumper. Never again will I dump an exhaust before the axle.

hmm really, well when you bag the truck you kind of need to drop it before the axle, damn now i don't know what to do, well definitely knwo that the dual turn downs are going to be a bad thing. \going to purchase a use turn down for 75, so atleast it is going to be cheap and not cost me too much to try

i have the mbrp turndown with a gutted manifold cat and a burnt up main cat(need to get it fixed). it isnt as bad as people make it out to be. the drone a certain rpms sucks but thats it. i know the lower you go with a turndown the louder it will be though and im just at a 2/3. since you plan on bagging are you gonna leave the hole in the bed floor or raise the floor?

it all depends on the design of the muffler as to the amount of drone. Magnaflow and MBRP both use similar designs and tend to be louder than most and straight through glass packs are the absolute loudest. I have a pretty big magnaflow muffler with a LT header, one magnaflow cat and 3" piping and mine is a turndown in the stock position and it can make you go deaf. I also have tricked people into thinking I have a v8 in it though because you don't hear that 5 cylinder tone until it's over 3500rpm. I've always had retarded loud exhausts though and never get pulled over so it doesn't bother me I'm used to being in a race car with straight pipes and enjoy hearing the engine.

Well, I took the truck to the shop to install that Magnaflow, After spending 1 hour trying to run that shit pipes to the back it wasn´t possible.

1. I need my spare tire in place, I use a lot the bed so cannot split the duals to the sides.
2. Since I wanted the single / dual magnaflow to get the full hp gain and deep sound there was no option to just change the muffler and keep the stock pipe to the end.
3. Both pipes cannot fit between the leaf spring and the spare tire.
4. I cannot run the pipes under the leafs since my next mod is a lift
5. Im planning to install a hitch receiver so that makes even less room to fit pipes in there.
6. There is no enough room between the leafs and the frame.

So... at the end the muffler was installed with 2 turndowns.

The sound is totally different, so deep. I had to acept that there is so much noise in the cab but since the sound is so deep I kind like it. (Lets see in a couple of months).

Well after having this setup for 3 days, I had concluded that there is so much drone inside the cab (just like I thought).

The deep sound is perfect with the windows open but when closed its definitively too much.

So today afternoon I´m taking the truck back to the shop to figure out how the hell I´m gonna take that 2 pipes to the back of the truck while keeping my spare on place and leaving space for the hitch receiver and bigger shackles.

Damn!

Sorry for the poor graphics but I have no design tools available for this:

So far this is the plan:
Run bot lines from the muffler and "jump" the axle, after that one line will make a turn to finally stay above the first line, then both make the final curve to the rear of the truck. One above the other.

I will have a double side exit using all space available between spare and leaf. Both lines should cut short enough to leave space for the hitch receiver.

What do you think?

OK, so here the pics of the route change.

As planned, both tubing fitted between the leaf and the tire. So this is another option for people who want a double side exit but without taking out the spare and without interfering the suspension.

The pipes looks lightly dented, but let me tell you that wasn´t easy to get this done.
