cruise switch and whistle from intake not heard on video.. I heard it tough!
Special thanks to Current Performance and all there help on this project!!
Well after years of thinking..months of planning and thousands of dolars later, I am ready to go for the real deal! Today I started pulling out the old 2.8L 4 banger to make room for the 07 LS1 converted to LS2 4.8L V8. I still need to get lots of things but basiclly here is the list of what I have;
- 07 GMC savana 4.8L engine 13,292 kms
- Cp perf. engine mounts
- luk LS1 clutch Zo6 preasure plate, ARP bolts
- LS2 knock sensors
- 2006 SSR computer & gas pedal
- HP tunners
- E40 computer plugs
- bracket to mount trailblazer pedal
- advanced adapters bell-housing to mate jeep AX15/Colorado MA5 tranny to V8
Update Jan. 2nd 2010
And it runs!! Boy did I get a lot done in one long day! a lot still needs to be done, and some stuff was really "thrown"together... but it is a ""start"" anyway no pun intended!
Today I installed the LS6 valley cover, injectors intake manifold throttle body, finished up the wiring harness connections, made up the fuel lines, heat wrapped the wires and clutch line, installed the van dip stick, changed the filter put 5 quarts of oil in, battery cables (temporary)
Some issues electronically the gas gauge reads reverse.. no surprise, and for some unknown reason it says change oil???
Also added this to the first page.
The first vid is boring and not recomneded it is just a reference of all the gauge funtions etc.. and the stock truck running for the last time as a 4cyl.
here is some pics of my progress tonight lol 10:00 PM to midnight!
acident some SOB backed into me a day before I took the truck off the road for the winter and I just had it all smoothed out and patined.. oh well ..might as well remove it for better access!..
..and fix it at the same time!
%$#&* Fan removel!! What was GM thinking?
I wound up using this tool I made prevously on my dads 97 chevy when I changed is water pump. I also used a large plumbers wrench and a 4-5 foot bar and grunting and more cus words and she broke free! Aslo cut my finger on the damn plastic fan blade #%&*!
here is a vid of the progress tonight, lots of plastic crap on these vehicles today!
Update DEC 02/10
Well guys here is my progress from last night and tonight. Off the top of my head here are the issues;
- need different exhaust manifolds or some headers which ones?
- need transmsison bellhousing sapcer and longer pilot bearing, slave spacer?
- need to notch or hammer the firewall lip to clear the intake manifold or use a LS1 car intake
-I had to notch the bellousing for the starter and cut holes an notch for the slave cylender lines
I mixed the egine mounts up would have been nice if they were marked, add the pull engine and reposition, next time I will remove boht exhaust manifolds for clearance it is a tight fit! FYI easier to mount the engine mounts to the frame then drop the engine in, also easier to remove the passenger coils as it is tight against the heater outlets. The oil pan seems like it will work, just hangs down a little I don't think it will hit anything.
Here is a couple of vids first one engine removal, second one comparing bellhousings third one first fit up of the V8
Update DEC 13 2010
Well I took some pics, the proper way then engine mounts should be, and pics of the 06 GTO LS2 intake & fuel rails, 06 SSR throttle body, stock colorado fan clearance, and 06 OBX Trailblazer SS header fit problems; passenger side motor mount had to be cut about 1/2" on the back side, drivers side contacts frame, brake lines, steering shaft etc.. I had to bend the coolant crossover pipe down and over a bit to get the LS2 intake on, however there is now lots of space between the firelwall/cowl panel now!!
PM me for a list of parts. I also build swap wiring harness and pedal brackets!
