Question about Trailer Wiring Connections

Sorry if this is in the wrong section or has already been answered.... I generally don't post much and DID use the search feature prior to deciding to ask.... but.....

I have an 08 Rado with the OEM receiver and wiring harness.... It currently is running to a 7 pin Pollak connector installed onto my bumper (next to my plate).

What I am trying to find is a way to keep a 7 pin connector (where it is currently) but also have a 4 pin connector "hidden" behind my bumper so I can connect a Recon Tailgate LED Strip without using those cumbersome adapters that stick out 6 inches....thus allowing me to leave the LED strip connected and functional even if I do end up towing a trailer that requires a 7 pin connection. Also I'm not a huge fan of splicing and cutting OEM wiring.... so is there a T-Connector that would allow this?

I found a picture of what I think it should look like.... just no luck finding this particular connection for our trucks...... any ideas?

Does that make sense to anybody? I know I have a tendency to ramble on about stupid crap and my spelling/grammar isn't perfect. I don't care....... just trying to rig my truck the way I want it and don't know where or what to look for.

On the 04+, but prior to the 08s, there is a connector box mounted to the inside of the driver frame rail as shown in the figure you posted. Check and see if you have one.

Rangerbob:
I do have some sort of connector box on the drivers side.... looked like wiring for left/right signals and brake/running lights....... all the wires run to 2 or 3 quick connector style plugs........
FMRJPR:
I also have one of these adapters...... however I want to be able to rig up the 4 pin plug behind the bumper so I don't have to connect/disconnect when running a 7 pin trailer connection too........

there should be a right and left turn/brake light wire, license plate light, and ground on the 4 pin connector

usually the green/white wire is the right lights...yellow wire is left lights...brown wire is the license plate, and the white wire is ground (these color codes are the wires colors on the trailer)

the 7 pin is...12v+, left and right turns, wire for tail lights, electric brakes, ground, and an auxilary/backup wire

if you are staring at the 7 pin...pin 6 is the right turn signal (this is the pin to the left), pin 5 is the left turn (pin to the right) , pin 1 is ground(lower right hand pin), 12v+ is the top left pin....tail lights are the top right pin (pin 3)....aux/backup is the center pin (pin 7)....and the e-brakes are the lower left (pin 2)....

soooo...to hook this is you'll need to splice the 4 pin connector into pin 6, pin 5, pin 1, and pin 3....
