should I widen the rear track?

Remember if you go shorter with wider wheels then decide you want a different offset you can always get wheel spacers to push the wheel back out. Some people don't like wheel spacers but I don't see an issue. You get what you pay for. Plus if you go wheel spacers you have the option of changing your lug pattern to get different wheels.
 
Wider is better for traction. But you can always get that wider stance by just getting a wider wheel with the factory width.

What are you planning to do with the truck?

If your not on doing any crazy driving then keep the factory width. If you want to run deep dish wheels without having to get big fender flares then go slightly shorter
