On an unrelated note...Brad: How fast does Mike's XS get parts to your door? I need rear break pads, axel grease, a new batt, and the nut that holds the rear break arm to the pedal. Granted I'll get the batt and grease tomorrow locally but the pads and break nut might be difficult.

Brad: Is it can you find pod filter locally? I've checked Auto Zone and Advanced with no luck. granted the morons answering the phones were no help but anyway. I just don;t wanna pay $15 from Mike's if I can get them for like $5 locally.

 

Not that i know of. Try your local dirt bike shop, measure first though for the I.D. of the filter. Also, check and see where that Rusty Riders shop is located, they are in Ohio somewhere. They have them for hella cheap. Probably ships next day even :shrug:

 

Just checked they are about an hour outside Columbus.

They have filters for $6 though. Def beats Mike's $15. :high5: Parts ordered. Should be here soon!!!

 

Did you put anything on the breather tube above the carbs. Theres a tube that runs to the stock air boxes now.

 

Yeah, little mini-me crankcase breather from Advance Auto/Vato Zone. Guys use single direction valves too. Whatever you can find will do the job.

 

Fair enough. The Rusty Riders didn;t have the 54mm I would need. I meant to go to Vato Zone but I straight passed out in the chair after eatin. Guess I could go now but not really feeling motivated as of yet. :lmaop:

im glad to see youre working on the bike joe. what are the plans exactly?

 

For now get it running and stopping. Parts for the rear brakes will be here Friday. Carbs have been cleaned and reinstalled. I will need to rejet once I chop the exhaust and switch to pod filters but in the mean time it'll work. I'm gunna stay softtail this season and do a complete tear down this winter so I can get it hardtailed and build properly. Main reason is so I can sell the Victory sooner and so my brother can use the "street legal" XS 650cc to get his license and not my 1500cc Victory.

 

do you have a specific bike that you want it to look like?

Got to be another 10-12 miles on those brakes. If you only need about 30-40 feet to stop, they should last another 3-4 years at the pace this build is going. :kiki2:

I'm glad you are working on it but, every time I look in this thread my next move is CL/bobbers. It's gonna happen one day. Find the one that I can't pass up. Show up at home with it. Take a beating from the wife and kids then ride off for a few hours with a big ass grin on my face
