Ok, not sure where to put this tread so i will do so here and mods if need be move it..thanks.
Now, i am going to be installing a sunroof in my z85. I want the biggest damn one i can get in there. i have the measurements and all, only thing is i have two choices...
1) I can put in a pop top...it raise in back, raises completely front and back, and rasie in front only at low speeds.. It also comes off easy and stores in its own bag for total sunroof being open. Bad thing is, nothing at all to block all the sun...only the glass. Which is tinted to an extent...
2) I can install a power sunroof...now these of course cost alot more, and I would have to find power up there. Plus it weighs more...but it is power...has a sun blocker shade...opens completely...tilts up in back...and then slides all the way up and back...
I of course like the idea of power...but really, would you all justify another $2-300 for power? I can get a manual for only $100...what would you all do? And also I would imagine that the power would be a bitch to install..anyone ever done this before? TIA!!!

My next truck will have the panoramic dual power glass sunroof.

The stock power sunroof is ok

Cheap pop-up tops make for easy theft access.

*edit* BTW, I would gladly pay the $1500/installed for the panoramic :D

Damn, come to think of it i would think the wind flapping them even pulled tight, would cause it to leak...and damn the maintanance of cleaning and trying to keep it looking good and black...wow,,,thats a little more than I am willing to do. But has anyone here actually installed one in there truck themselves? I ran across a link for a pop up sunroof..but the power is what i want and being truthful, kinda think it would be too hard of a install.

I just wanna go to the yard get one out of a trashed vehicle and install it in mine....otherwise, I will order just a pop up and be done with it....

HOLY HELL BATMAN! lol....Its been quite awhile since I had first thought of doing this. Now after still further reserching and even watching a roof be put in I think I am finally about to install a roof in my own truck. Anyone here done one in thier own truck? Or do this kinda work for a living? Could maybe use some pointers still. Figure since its been almost a year since I made this tread, new members may have joined who could help me out... thanks guys.

Yup, definitely worth having a professional do the installation for you. All of the sunroof manufacturers will not honor the warranty if their product was not installed by an authorized shop.

The warranty alone is worth the extra cost incurred!

Hell after looking at all the responses on here it seems you guys all say have someone do it..but after looking into this for so damn long it really does seem simple to do. Cut the hole...after making sure its lined up right. Smooth out the cut and paint it so the edge wont rust or corrode...slip in the roof....power it up with any 12 volt switced source with a fuse...install headliner...and then the trim ring, or the last two reversed..either way I really cant see it being very hard. I have watched countless damn vids on it...and they all seem to show and say the same thing. Do you guys really think it would be that damn hard? Oh...and I guess the warrenty to me doesnt really matter since I would be getting one out of a junk yard without a warrenty anyway...lol.
