Please forgive me if I am doing this wrong, this is my first attempt at posting on this forum.

I have a 1927 Chevrolet Truck that I wish to install the 2.8L I4 engine from a 2006 Colorado Truck. I am having a lot of trouble locating information on the necessary wiring harness connections (just the stuff to make the engine run).

I also need to know how to run that engine without the power steering unit attached.

Any recourse information would be appreciated.

Thanks !

I must agree with Gold Country Russ. There are several combinations for engine/transmissions out there. If I was going to try and do a engine replacement, I would look at the old Chevy straight 6 235 engine out of a early 50’s Chevrolet. Just remember if anyone Zapps our electric grid, no computer vehicles will be operational. No computer controlled autos are the only ones that will continue to operate. Good Luck.

It is a classic case of not doing my research very well. Originally I thought that the engine in the Colorado Pickup was an Ecotec. I was disappointed when I discovered it was a GM Atlas. It did meet the size requirements (in 27 the Chevrolet engine was a small 25 hp I4 engine) had good horse power and an automatic transmission. Had I realized that technical information was going to be this difficult to come by I may have made a different choice. At 360 pound and 175 hp it seemed to be a good fit for this relatively small truck.
I have pondered through the drawings and believe I just about have a handle on it, however there are a few questions about the reprogramed PCU which have me concerned.

Thanks for responding to my post.

Have a great day !

Strait six would never fit where the in line four once lived. I was also looking for a light weight engine with a good power to weight ratio.

If the power grid gets zapped we will have a lot more pressing things to worry about.

Several things are driving this. It's a Chevie Truck so a 4 Cylinder Chevrolet motor seems appropriate. The Motor Compartment does not have a lot of width to it since it came with a four banger. And most importantly I already have the Colorado. I got to test drive it and I runs and shifts very well.

I appreciate your thoughts on this but I am going to try to make this work.

Good luck with your project. I'd be interested in any pictures you could post on your progress as it sounds like an interesting experiment.

And welcome to here!
